What with gas prices climbing ever higher, I guess it’s no surprise that hotels everywhere are trying to keep you on the traveling road with fuel-related incentives. Yesterday, I gave you deals north of Los Angeles; today, we head south, to San Diego, where gas cards have surpassed free breakfasts as the deal-component de rigueur. Following are a few hotels with these specials.
Paradise Point Resort & Spa: At this Mission Bay hotel, which I like for its greenery, (sometimes chaotic) family-friendliness and occasional good deals, guests get a $100 gas card and free parking with a four-night stay. Rates start at $249 per night (pre-tax). Book via the “Packages & Offers” page, or if calling, ask for the “Fuel for Fun” package. NB: Stays in September require only a three-night minimum. Contact: Paradise Point Resort & Spa, (858) 274-4630
San Diego Marriott Gaslamp Quarter: If you want to be in the thick of the downtown scene, take advantage of this hotel’s “Summer Sizzle” package, which includes a $25 gas card, free valet parking, full breakfast at its on-site restaurant and 10-15% off of select area attractions when booked through the concierge. Room rates here start at $279 (pre-tax). When: Now through Sept. 30, 2008. Contact: San Diego Marriott Gaslamp Quarter, (619) 696-0234
Loews Coronado Bay Resort & Spa: If you want just one night in San Diego and you like Coronado’s serene (unless you’re trying to get out of town late on a sunny Sunday) vibe, try this hotel, where rates range from $289 to $429 (pre-tax). Its “Money for Miles” package is bookable for one night and gives you a $50 gas credit, free self-parking and a list of the area’s cheapest gas stations. When: Now through Sept. 1, 2008. Contact: Loews Coronado Bay Resort & Spa, (800) 815-6397
Tip: Stretch your gas rebates the furthest by going where the gallons are cheapest. See the web resources that Jen Leo put together in her recent post, “Cheap gas? Here are 4 websites to help you find lower prices.”
